Code of conduct for students of St. John’s Girls School-Panadura -
To maintain discipline in the school a code of conduct is implemented from year 2016 with the collaboration of parents and teachers. Actions will be taken for any in disciplinary issues conducted by students.

1) Rules and Regulations of the school. +
School commences at 7.30 a.m. Hence the students are requested to be in the premises before 7.25a.m. Getting late to school will be a distraction for their education as well as tarnish the name of the school. So the parents are responsible to send the children to school on time.
The school closes at 1.30 p.m. No child is permitted to go out of the premises before the actual time.
Any individual need to leave the school early is requested to submit a letter of permission from the parents certified by the principal.
Furthermore if any student gets caught in school uniform outside the premises idling in unwanted places, it will be considered as a serious offence.

3) Telephones and Electronic devices +
Bringing a mobile phone, keeping, using it or encouraging to use a phone would be a punishable offence in any circumstance.
Bringing computers, tabs, I pads, CDs, DVDs, pen drives or any kind of computers equipment to school is totally prohibited.

4) Misconduct +
Misbehavior or encouraging misbehaviour will be a serious offence.
Furthermore if in the school uniform students are caught on roads or in vehicles misbehaving it too will be a serious offence.
Harassing students will be a punishable offence.

5) Issues among students in school. +
All the student have equal rights. Hence no one has a right to bully or disturb any student. All should work in cooperation and unity.
Therefore conflicts in classrooms, or among classrooms or among students will be a serious offence.
When there is a conflict in the school, bringing outside forces and harassing students by them is a punishable offence.
It is the responsibility of other students to inform the class teacher or the teachers of the issue if there is a conflict in classroom.

6) Vandalizing +
Buildings, desks, chairs, and all the other equipment are the property of the school. Generations of the students are supposed to use them. So it is the responsibility of the students to protect them.
Hence vandalizing school property theft of encouragement would be a punishable offence.

7) Respecting teachers maintaining the dignity of the school. +
A teacher is a well-recognized person who develops knowledge, skills and attitudes of the children. So its the duty of the Students to behave properly, to talk pleasantly and to respect them.
Misconduct, speaking ill of teachers is totally prohibited.
The dignity of the school is directly maintained by the behaviour of students’ teachers and parents. Especially the students’ behaviour is a vital factor.
Tarnishing the name of the school will be a serious offence.

8) Management of waste +
It is a duty of everyone to keep the classrooms, and the school premises clean. It will help to maintain discipline and prevent from diseases.
Bringing polythene to school is totally prohibited from 2016. All the students are requested to bring food in a box.
Whatever the things students bring from home should take them back home. Maintaining a healthy environment is a duty of all the students.

In order to maintain discipline and avoid students’ misbehavior the academic staff and the board of prefects have the right to advice and to report them. Principal and the disciplinary Committee have the right to punish any student. +
Any disciplinary issue will be handled according to the rules and regulations given below.
1st Time
Once the mistake is recognized the teacher or the prefect has to advice the students not to repeat. It has to be recorded with the date and the name.
2nd Time
If the same student repeats the same mistake or a similar issue, she will be submitted to the disciplinary panel. She will be thoroughly advised with a statement from her and also should keep a record of everything. The disciplinary committee has the right to inform parents or the guardians regarding the issue.
3rd Time
If the student repeats the same misconduct the principal and the disciplinary committee have the right to suspend the student for two weeks of schooling once informing the parents.
4th Time
If the student does the same mistake or a similar one, after informing the board of trustees and the parents, the student will be expelled from the school.

According to the misconduct the committee principal and the disciplinary have the sole right to take necessary actions skipping any of the above mentioned steps.
